Notes: This post is for doctors who wish to take time out of formal clinical training to develop skills and experience in medical oncology practice within an NHS Trust and the wider region. It is particularly suitable for those with an interest in Medical Oncology who are giving consideration to joining the training scheme. The post-holder will be gain experience with the management of oncology patients across tumour sites, and develop valuable clinical and non-clinical skills through the process. The post-holder will undertake a range of clinical duties across the medical oncology service, with opportunities for working alongside Consultant tumour site-specific teams in SACT and outpatient clinics, as well as managing inpatients and acute admissions through the acute oncology/haematology unit (AOHU). There is an increasing move to the utilisation of skill-mix within our services, including non-medical prescribing and nurse-led clinical services. The post holder would be expected to support the integration of these services into routine practice A transformation project, reporting through NICAN, and involving all key stakeholders has been set up to review and advise on the model of oncology services with a view to ensuring the provision of high quality and sustainable services for the region. The postholder, as with all others within the region, will be expected to work with the recommendations of the project, which may include changes to the job plan or the model of care delivery.
