Carrie Barkley-Smith (encompass Principal Trainer)
Hi my name is Carrie and I am a Principal Trainer within encompass. I have been in post since April 2022. My role is to develop and deliver a curriculum that is comprehensive and relevant for End User training. I do this by working in close contact with the Build Teams and representatives from the Trusts; gaining an understanding of how the system works, knowing the requirements of the end users to make the system fit for purpose, and developing the training curriculum to connect the two.
My background is not in healthcare, it is in education, so the training and curriculum role appealed to me, and when I saw the opportunity to work on such an exciting project, I jumped in with both feet! I have been afforded the time and support to gain new qualifications.
Not having a clinical background has not been an issue, as there are several roles within encompass that match with a variety of skill sets, from System Analysts to Project Management roles. From my perspective, I would say the only pre-requisites for working on the encompass project are to be enthusiastic and to able to work as part of a team.
Nicola O’Neill (encompass Programme Manager)
Hi my name is Nicola and I am the Training Programme Manager within encompass. I started my career within HR directorate in South & East Trust and have worked across the HSC in a number of roles, spanning across HR, Recruitment and Service Improvement.
As part of my roles I was lucky enough to be involved in service redesign and improvement and I became fascinated how digitial systems were able to underpin new ways of working. When I heard about encompass I thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to be involved in transformation from the beginning and I was right, I haven’t looked back.
Not having a technical background has had no disadvantage to me in my role, encompass, as a transformation Programme, requires a variety of skillsets. I am able to use my skills to work on many exciting projects and workstreams. I am currently leading on the training strategy for the programme and excited to see training being rolled out to South Eastern Trust beginning August 2023. I am ready for the challenges that lie ahead and I know I can achieve my goals with the support of my colleagues and peers.
Laura Allison (encompass Senior Workflow Analyst)
Hi, I am Laura and I am a Senior Workflow Analyst in the Cogito build team which is mainly responsible for reporting. My HSCNI career began in 2008, when I worked in Finance accounts payable. I have had various finance roles throughout my career and made the move to encompass in January 2021. This was a big change for me which I am thoroughly enjoying, encompass encourages personal and professional growth, the opportunity to gain lots of new skills and qualifications and confidence in yourself.
