JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Information Governance and Data Protection will fulfil the role of Data Protection Officer for the BSO and will facilitate compliance of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act (2018). As Data Protection Officer, the post holder will have direct access to give advice to senior management regarding personal data processing.
He/she will provide expert advice and guidance to the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), Deputy SIRO and Information Asset Owners (IAO’s) as well as the BSO Personal Data Guardian in the discharge of their duties. The Head of Information Governance and Data Protection will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the BSO Information Governance Framework.
This will include the development, implementation, monitoring and review of strategies, policies and procedures to support good Information Governance and Information Risk Management. The post holder will lead the co-ordination and delivery of a range of staff training programmes in records management and information governance to ensure that all BSO staff are trained and competent on their records management and information governance responsibilities.
The post holder will be responsible for the Records and Information Governance budget, for delivering financial balance within their area of responsibility and the management of cost improvement programmes to support the achievement of a balanced budget. The post holder will represent the BSO and participate in collaborative regional records management and information governance projects and working groups. The post holder will also be required to work across all BSO Corporate services functions as required.
