Social Work

Social Workers plan and implement care packages for those in need to promote independence, support social inclusion, empower them and help them to keep safe. They work with other agencies including the police, local communities, schools and the probation service.

As a Social Worker, you'll work with a wide range of client groups including:

  • the elderly
  • children and adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems or physical disabilities
  • people with alcohol or drug misuse problems
  • children at risk of abuse or neglect
  • foster carers and adopters

You will need to successfully complete an approved degree in social work and be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.

Social Care

Domiciliary Care Workers, Support Workers, and Care Assistants give practical and emotional support to a wide range of different people in different settings, for example, in someone’s own home, a day centre or a nursing or residential home.

They provide services under the supervision of a qualified social worker or case manager, often in partnership with other health or social care professionals.

You will need good communication and time management skills, and be committed to working with people and their families to improve their physical or mental wellbeing..

All social work and social care posts require vetting.
