Following semi-retirement of Senior Partner we are seeking full or part time GP-up to 6 sessions per week. Fintona is a small rural town in County Tyrone and is surrounded by beautiful farming countryside; the town lies about halfway between two of Ulster's notable natural landmarks, the Sperrin Mountains to the north and Lough Erne to the south west. By road, Omagh, the county town of Tyrone, lies 8 miles north and Enniskillen, the county town of Fermanagh, is 18 miles south-west. Perhaps the most well-known bit of history associated with Fintona was the horse-drawn tram that took passengers from Fintona railway station to Fintona Junction station one mile away up until 1957 when it was retired as the last horse drawn tram in the country. There is an active village community, with thriving local primary schools. Older children have a choice of several excellent schools in Omagh and Fivemiletown. The area will appeal to those who enjoy outdoor pursuits and is particularly noted for its equestrian heritage and amenities as well as golfing traditions; Fintona golf club was founded in 1904 and is a fine parkland 9-hole course. Music (variety of genres) is a local favourite. There are numerous forest areas nearby for walking, adventure sports such as cycling, together with watersports at the nearby Fermanagh Lakelands. The Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Centre is nearby and provides full radiology diagnostics, an Urgent Care and Treatment Centre (MIU) together with 24/7 acute Cardiac Assessment Unit; the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen provides acute ED and comprehensive in and outpatient facilities. The Practice currently has a list size of 6500 patients and is located inside the town boundary close to local amenities. The Practice has 4 GPs currently and provides GMS and a range of Enhanced Services; we have a friendly Team consisting of Practice Manager, Receptionists, three Practice Nurses, visiting Midwives and District Nurses together with Practice Based Pharmacist and a Practice Based Specialist Paramedics Project. Our Paramedics undertake face to face assessment in the surgery and at the Patients home together with telephone triage and Point of Care CRP testing when indicated. We use the EMIS Web clinical system, and Ask My GP. If you are interested in this post, or would like further information, please contact our Practice Manager, Shirley.
