Notes: Liaison psychiatry is an extremely important area of service delivery within modern Health care. Liaison psychiatrists specialise in the management of psychiatric problems in the general medical setting. They have expertise in working at the interface between physical and mental illness, including psychological reactions to physical illness, medically unexplained symptoms and the management of self-harm in the general hospital. The NHSCT operates an Enhanced 24 liaison psychiatry service. Whilst this is an already established team ongoing service development and reform is expected. If successful in your application you will join an already established team, working with a team of consultant psychiatrists and a full multidisciplinary team. A Trust-wide waiting list may be created for similar permanent/temporary, full/part time posts that may arise within the next 12 months.
